Active Volunteer
These are individuals who volunteer a regularly scheduled basis in one or more program areas. A commitment of 8 hours per months is needed. We make every effort to match the volunteer interests with the appropriate program area. Because our services are highly individualized, we cannot guarantee patient/client interaction volunteer activities. Volunteers in this area may be required to have a TB Test. The Institute will schedule and pay for the test as needed.
College Observation Hours
This area is most appropriate for individuals who are pursuing the field of physical therapy, occupational therapy or speech therapy and are required to complete a designated number of observation hours for school. One individual per discipline is chosen each month to complete up to nine hours of observation. For more information contact Sara Baker at (816) 751-7789.

Youth volunteers must be 14 years or older. Volunteer activities are available Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Two types of opportunities area available:
Youth Summer Camp Volunteers: Youth are needed to assist with the Institute’s annual summer camps that provide therapy and activities for children with disabilities. Youth volunteers will help staff coordinate and implement camp activities. Camps are scheduled in June and July. Volunteers are not required to volunteer for the entire camp duration, but we do ask that they commit to a minimum number of hours. Volunteers will be required to have a TB Test. The Institute will schedule and pay for the test.
Youth Community Service Hours: We are pleased to partner with area schools to help students complete their community service hours. Opportunities are considered on a case-by-case basis. Volunteers may be required to have a TB Test. The Institute will schedule and pay for the test.
