Drivers’ Evaluation and Training
The Driving Program helps a person with a disability determine if they have the potential to drive safely. The program is staffed by therapists and individuals with specialized training in the area of Driver’s Rehabilitation.
Following an evaluation, the person is given recommendations regarding their ability to drive and what adaptive equipment or training they might need to improve their driving abilities. When needed, the program can provide additional training to individuals who have gone through the evaluation process, but need to improve specific driving skills.
Adaptive Computer and Communication Technology (ACCT)
The ACCT Program provides opportunities for greater success, independence, and productivity through the use of assistive technology. Participants and experienced staff explore assistive technology tools that will address an individual’s specific needs to function independently. Such tools include:
• Computer Access
• Alternative Tools for Communication
• Environmental Control Units
Once tools are identified, individuals receive special training to effectively use their new equipment in their own environments. Neuropsychological Services
The Neuropsychology department provides assessment and consultation services for individuals ages 3 to adult. Services assess cognitive and emotional status and changes associated with brain injury or stroke, brain tumor, progressive diseases (such as MS), and dementia. Treatment may focus on adjustment to disability, depression, behavioral intervention, and pain management.
