Opportunities for Involvement
What types of volunteer opportunities to you have?
We currently have three avenues for you to volunteer your time and talents with our organization.

The Rehabilitation Institute Auxiliary
A membership organization, consisting of but not limited to retired individuals, who raise funds and increase awareness of us through a variety of activities. More about our Auxiliary.

Service Volunteers
Provide regular hands-on volunteer support. As a service you are asked to commit a minimum of 4 hours per week in the program area you select. Our volunteer coordinator will work with you to match your interests and abilities to our volunteer needs. Service opportunities are available for both adults and junior volunteers. We also work with local schools who have service requirements for students.

Event Volunteer
The Rehabilitation Institute of Kansas City holds two major events every year: A Day at the Lake, a water sports clinic for persons with spinal cord injuries and Arts on the Hill, a juried art exhibit for artists with disabilities. There are a limited number of volunteer positions open. If you would like to learn more about each event, please visit our Upcoming Events section. If you are interested in volunteering at either event, please contact Sara Ruzicka at 816.751.7764.

To learn more about our volunteer opportunities please contact:
Dana Chatlin at 816-751-7815 or dana.chatlin@rehabkc.org.

What impact will my contribution make?
Private gifts help keep our organization strong and able to help individuals with disabilities regain their independence. Your support will help us address the basic activities of daily living for our patients such as walking, communicating, eating, dressing and driving to more complex issues related to living independently and returning to work or school.

Last year, we helped 1600 individuals regain skills and learn new techniques to compensate for lost abilities. We would like to take all of the credit for our patient and client successes. But we know their success comes from their determination, our experience and your support.

Your contribution will help:

• Build self-sufficiency by helping individuals return to work.
• Provide resources for new and innovative programming.
• Help people learn adaptive ways to function in the community independently.
• Make available the latest in rehabilitation technology.

What are some contribution options I can consider?
As you consider making a donation, you may want to compare your options. Whether your plan includes a gift today or provides for future funding, you can be assured that it will be helping our programs and those we serve. Here are some things to consider if:

You have plenty of assets now and want to see our gift work - consider outright gifts such as cash, stocks or real estate.

You want to make a gift, but need all of your assets now – consider gifts by will or life insurance.

Your want to make a gift but need the income or use of your assets – consider establishing a charitable remainder trust, charitable gift annuity or a retained life estate.

You want to make a gift now, but want to keep something for your children – consider a charitable lead trust in the form of cash, investments or business interests.

For more information on the benefits of these and other gift options for you and your family contact: Dana Chatlin at 816-751-7815 or dana.chatlin@rehabkc.org
