Admissions Criteria
We are an approved service provider for Vocational Rehabilitation Services, schools, employers, insurance, Missouri Medicaid, the Missouri Assistive Technology Program and the Veteran’s Administration.
In addition to a referral from vocational rehabilitation individuals must:
- Be at least 14 years of age (16 years of age for our workshop services).
- Be able to care for their personal needs or direct such services if provided by a personal assistant that they employ or arrange through a funding source.
- Possess sufficient emotional control so as not to pose physical threat to either themselves or to others.
Common issues presented at employment admission include:
- Unemployment.
- Unknown employment potential.
- Unclear employment goals.
- Lack of marketable work skills.
- Lack of knowledge regarding community options.
- Poor job seeking skills.
- Uncertain of technology needs.
Individuals with uncontrolled seizure disorders or diseases which are communicable through casual contact are not eligible for services. The Rehabilitation Institute does not provide psychiatric treatment, substance abuse treatment or transportation to/from the individual place of residence.
