Driving Services | Admissions Criteria
Any individual, 15 years of age or older, with a physical, cognitive, visual or hearing disability that interferes with their ability to drive, is eligible for a Driving Evaluation. First time drivers as well as those with prior driving experience may benefit from the program. A valid driver’s license or permit is required for program admission.
There is a charge for each evaluation and training session. The total cost is based on the number and type of sessions required. In some cases, these services are covered by third-party payers.
Those benefitting from our Driving Program include:
- Individuals requiring low vision driver’s training, i.e. bioptic lenses, etc.
- Individuals with significant physical limitations such as spinal cord injuries that require high tech driving systems.
- Individuals who have experienced changes in their medical conditions that may have an impact on their ability to drive.
- Individuals who need to drive from their wheelchairs.
- Individuals who need a vehicle with appropriate modifications to be transported safely and comfortably as a passenger.
- Individuals experiencing changes to their ability to drive due to normal aging.
